Firstpower's High-Efficiency Integrated Cooling Solution for Hospital Energy Retrofits
The high-efficiency integrated cooling plant in this project is equipped with a 985kW Tier-1 energy efficiency chiller, paired with Wilo pumps and Firstpower's self-developed cooling towers, replacing the original screw-type air-cooled heat pump units. Traditional air-cooled heat pumps tend to have high energy consumption and struggle to meet the hospital's need for continuous, stable cooling. After the integrated cooling plant arrived on-site, the Firstpower technical team carried out system interfacing, commissioning, and trial runs. The entire system starts and stops smoothly, delivers stable cooling output, and maintains precise temperature control. Compared to the original screw-type air-cooled heat pump system, the new high-efficiency integrated plant significantly reduces energy consumption while fully meeting the hospital's air conditioning load requirements.
Firstpower's high-efficiency integrated cooling plant features a high degree of integration. Assembly and pre-commissioning are completed at the factory, and the unit is shipped as a complete package. This approach significantly shortens the on-site construction period and minimizes disruption to the hospital's normal medical operations.
To address the saline mist corrosion environment found in some coastal projects, the cooling towers in this installation have been upgraded with materials. The main body is constructed from stainless steel, significantly enhancing resistance to saline mist and corrosion. This effectively solves the pain points of ordinary carbon steel cooling towers—such as rusting, leakage, and shortened lifespan in humid, saline environments—thereby extending equipment life and reducing future maintenance costs for corrosion protection. The self-developed cooling towers are deeply matched with the Tier-1 energy efficiency chillers, optimizing the synergy of the entire system to ensure the comprehensive energy efficiency meets promised standards and achieves high-efficiency integration.

Hospital loads are characterized by large day-night fluctuations and the need for uninterrupted cooling during the air conditioning season. This high-efficiency integrated cooling plant is adapted to the complex load characteristics of hospitals. With simple operation and maintenance and a high degree of automation, it reduces the workload on logistics and maintenance personnel.
The all-in-one integrated model is a prominent advantage of Firstpower's cooling plant products. Equipment is assembled and tested as a complete set in the factory and shipped as a whole. This differs from the traditional model of scattered on-site assembly for refrigeration systems, facilitating quality control and reducing risks such as leakage and poor matching caused by on-site installation. The entire delivery process—from equipment ex-factory, transportation, and lifting to on-site commissioning and handover—is efficient and controllable.
Based on calculations using Zhejiang Province's hospital cooling season (May to October), 24-hour operation, and an average load factor of 65% (equivalent to 2,808 full-load hours), upgrading the cold source system from "air-cooled screw units + circulation pumps" to "magnetic levitation chillers + chilled water pumps + cooling water pumps + cooling towers" resulted in a +52.59% increase in the comprehensive energy efficiency of the cold source system.
While providing the same cooling capacity:
• Annual electricity savings of approximately 275,800 kWh, with an energy saving rate of 34.46%
• Annual electricity cost savings of approximately 173,900 RMB (at an electricity price of 0.630638 RMB/kWh)
• Equivalent to saving 33.90 tce (tonnes of coal equivalent) of standard coal (equivalent value)

The implementation of this hospital energy-saving renovation project fully validates the technical advantages of Firstpower's high-efficiency integrated cooling plant. The combination of Tier-1 energy efficiency chillers, high-quality Wilo pumps, and self-developed stainless steel cooling towers balances multiple advantages, including high efficiency and energy saving, corrosion resistance and durability, and convenient operation and maintenance. In the future, Firstpower will continue to refine its integrated cooling plant technology to provide reliable, low-carbon refrigeration system solutions for energy-saving renovation projects in hospitals, public buildings, and other sectors.
